Experienced Real Estate / Architectural Video Editor Freelance / Ongoing Pay: $100–$150 per completed video, based on complexity Typical finished length: 2:00–2:45 minutes We are looking for an experienced video editor with a strong eye for luxury real estate, architecture and interiors. This is not a fast-cut social media editing role. Our work is photography-led, refined and cinematic, with an emphasis on beautiful natural color, thoughtful pacing and graceful movement through a property. The goal is for the finished video to feel elevated and editorial while still representing the home accurately. What We Need You should be highly experienced with professional color grading and comfortable working with footage from Canon and DJI cameras, including Canon RAW / Log and DJI RAW / D-Log footage. Color is extremely important to us. Interiors need to remain true to the photography — accurate wall colors, wood tones, flooring, fabrics and finishes, with clean whites and natural-looking windows. We do not want overly warm interiors, crushed shadows, radioactive greens, oversaturated skies or the generic orange-and-teal “cinematic” look. You should understand how to balance mixed interior lighting, daylight and window exposure without making the footage look processed or artificial. Editing Style Our videos are generally 2:00–2:45 minutes and should feel calm, sophisticated and intentional. We are looking for: * Graceful pacing and camera movement * Smooth, motivated transitions rather than transitions for their own sake * Strong sequencing that creates a natural journey through the property * Clean cuts between gimbal, handheld and drone footage * Thoughtful use of establishing shots, architectural details and wider room views * Consistent exposure and color from shot to shot * Smooth speed ramps only when they genuinely improve a movement * Stabilization when necessary without creating warping or unnatural motion * Careful reframing and horizon/vertical correction where appropriate * Drone footage that integrates naturally with the interior footage rather than feeling like a separate reel * Music editing that follows the rhythm and emotion of the property without becoming overly dramatic or repetitive We prefer longer, beautiful movements over excessive cutting. A shot should be allowed to breathe when it deserves to. Color & Image Quality This is one of the most important parts of the position. The final video should have the same visual integrity as high-end architectural photography: natural, rich, dimensional and polished without looking heavily graded. You must be comfortable: * Matching video color closely to supplied reference photography * Working with Canon Log/RAW and DJI D-Log/RAW workflows * Correcting mixed color temperatures * Maintaining natural skin, wood, stone and landscape tones * Recovering highlights and maintaining window detail where possible * Controlling noise in darker interiors * Matching footage from multiple cameras * Avoiding excessive sharpening, HDR-looking contrast, halos and oversaturation * Maintaining believable skies and exterior colors * Delivering clean, high-resolution final files without unnecessary compression Storytelling We don’t simply want every usable clip placed on a timeline. The editor should be able to identify the strongest footage and build a visual story around the architecture — arrival, exterior, entry, primary spaces, details, indoor/outdoor relationships and a strong closing moment. Not every clip needs to be used. We would rather have a beautifully paced 2:15 film using the best footage than a 2:45 film filled with redundant shots. The editor should also recognize when two camera movements don’t cut together gracefully and find a better sequence rather than forcing the edit. What We Will Provide Depending on the project, you may receive: * Canon camera footage * DJI drone footage * DJI Osmo footage * Reference still photography from the same property * Music or music direction * Property-specific notes * Examples of the pacing and finish we are looking for Deliverables Typical finished video length is 2:00–2:45 minutes. Projects may also occasionally require shorter social edits or vertical versions derived from the primary film. Final exports should be clean, properly graded, sharp without being oversharpened and ready for luxury real estate marketing and social platforms. Compensation $100–$150 USD per completed video, depending on the complexity of the property, amount of footage and required deliverables. We are looking for someone we can work with consistently, not simply a one-off editor. Reliability, communication and the ability to develop an understanding of our visual style over time are extremely important.
