Remote
Volunteer / Unpaid — Portfolio Credit & Creative Ownership
Posted: Aug 06, 2026
Job Description
I run a personal brand account (@justgowordly on TikTok) built around my story — growing up in a cult, going to Stanford, working as an investment banking analyst, then stepping away to travel and figure out my next chapter, with documentary filmmaking and writing as the longer-term goal. It's very early, but one video out of 5 posted hit 116k views, and I'm looking for someone to help take it from "promising" to "growing a real following."
What I need:
Someone to help shape content strategy — tell me what to film, what formats/trends are working, help plan a posting cadence
Someone to edit raw footage into finished posts — both travel content and talking-head videos I send over
Someone who takes ownership of the account's growth, not just executes one-off edits
What I'm looking for in a person:
Strong communication — tells me what's working, what's not, and pushes back when they disagree
Ownership mentality — treats this like it's partly theirs, not a task list
Trustworthy — I'll be sending raw, sometimes personal footage before it's public
What's in it for you:
Portfolio material around growing a real account from the ground up, with a documented before/after (116k-view video already in hand)
Creative input on strategy, not just execution — this is a collaboration, not a gig
Credit, and a letter of recommendation/reference once we've built a track record together
Long-term angle: this account also doubles as a proof-of-concept for a documentary and memoir project I'll eventually raise funds for — if it grows, so does the story you get to point to
This is unpaid to start. I have a short collaboration agreement to walk through so expectations are clear on both sides, and I'd want to hop on a call first to see if it's a fit.
Requirements
Comfortable editing short-form vertical content (Reels/TikTok) — pacing, captions, trending audio/effects
Some portfolio or sample work to share, even if informal (personal projects, class work, other collabs)
Reliable communication — able to check in regularly and turn around edits on a rough weekly cadence
Comfortable giving input on content strategy, not just executing edits handed to you
Able to commit for a few months minimum — this is a growth project, not a one-off edit
