Volunteer Video Editor (Color Grading & VFX) – Independent Short Film

I’m looking for a passionate video editor to help bring my independent short film, SPOOKED!, to life. The film follows a college freshman who discovers that the ghost living in his dorm room is a student from the 1970s, leading to an emotional friendship and supernatural adventure. This is an unpaid passion project created by an independent cast and crew. I’m looking for someone who enjoys storytelling and wants to build their portfolio while collaborating on a narrative film. Responsibilities include: * Editing and assembling scenes into a cohesive story * Creating cinematic pacing and transitions * Color grading to establish a polished, cinematic look * Adding visual effects such as ghost effects, compositing, cleanup, and other subtle VFX * Collaborating throughout the post-production process and providing creative input when appropriate The footage will be shot in high-quality on an iPhone using professional filming techniques. All footage, audio, and project assets will be organized before editing begins. The editor will receive full screen credit, IMDb credit (if applicable), and permission to use the finished film in their portfolio or demo reel.

* Experience editing narrative films, short films, or cinematic videos * Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar editing software * Knowledge of color grading * Basic to intermediate VFX experience (After Effects, Fusion, Blender, etc.) * Strong storytelling and pacing skills * Good communication and willingness to collaborate remotely * Ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines Bonus Skills (Not Required): * Motion graphics * Sound design or audio cleanup * Experience with supernatural or cinematic visual effects * Portfolio or demo reel showcasing previous work
